Decorating a mobile home or manufactured residence can be a challenge. Paneled walls, vinyl wallpaper, odd angles and low ceilings are just a couple of of the troubles home decorators need to overcome. Here are some excellent tips for decorating your mobile residence with style and charm.
The most typical complaint I hear in decorating a mobile property is what to do about those paneled walls. Mobile homes tend to have strips of vertical “molding” that cover the gap in between every single panel of wallboard. They scream “mobile residence”. There are approaches to function around them. 1st of all, you can remove them and use joint compound and a putty knife to fill the gaps. This works, however, as 1 of my readers pointed out recently when she tried this method, its difficult to get the gaps as smooth as the wallboard. Her answer was to apply joint compound to the complete wall, then texture and paint. Fantastic thought! A lot of work!
If you do not want to put the function into the joint compound method, you have choices. The initial is to merely choose one or two co-coordinating paint colors in a rich hue, then make the color of the walls the star. With a lovely color as background, specifically a rich color, then strips will seem to fade away. How about cranberry and mustard? Or a wealthy moss green and a golden yellow?
